We start off with a great live Westinghouse refrigerator commercial with Betty Furness.  It’s a memorable time with Walter Cronkite anchor the CBS Democratic Convention in Chicago.  Addressing the Georgia caucus with Gov. Marvin Griffin.
With President's Eisenhower’s popularity high there were few who wished to run as the Democratic nominee. Stevenson however, wanted another chance to run against the President. When Eisenhower suffered a heart attack and his health was in some doubt- Averill Harriman decided to challenge Stevenson. Despite support from Truman Harriman was unable to mount a credible challenge and Stevenson was elected on the first ballot. CBS Reporter on the floor Bill Downs talking how Adali Stevenson working on his acceptance speech. We follow with a commercial telling us about there new electric eyes that open and close the elevator automatically. Talk about the Civil Rights problem.  CBS Blare Clark reporting on Senator Harriman talking about his nomination and chances even though Stevenson has more votes.
