LIBERACE VOLUME TWO

Liberace learned early on to add "schmaltz" to his television show and to cater to the tastes of the mass audience by joking and chatting to the camera, as if performing in the viewer's own living room. He also used dramatic lighting, split images, costume changes, and exaggerated hand movements to create visual interest. His television performances featured enthusiasm and humor.
Liberace covers the history of music. Claiming that music started off with five notes, both Liberace and his Brother on the Violin create a series of tunes just using five notes. Then he brings in a full Orchestra to play those same notes. Then music from the 18th Century is covered playing the minuet. Then he covers the music from the Gay 90’s with a barber shop quartet of singers. Then the Roaring Twenties is covered with Liberace playing along with a banjo player, and dances doing the Charleston. Then he plays George Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue to honoring the 1930’s depression era. Then the next show covers Music around the world, visiting Italy, the old West with the last roundup, Then “The Lady of Spain”, then the music from John Wayne’s “High and the Mighty” highlights “The Whistling Song”. Then Music honoring California they play “You’re your Kicks on Route 66”.
