THE IDOL DANCER (approx 120 minutes)
The Idol Dancer (1920) is an extant silent film drama produced and directed by D. W. Griffith. It stars Richard Barthelmess and Clarine Seymour, a young actress Griffith was grooming for stardom and who died at twenty-two before the year ended. A religious zealot and his nephew are thrown together on a South Seas Island with an alcoholic beach comber and a native dancer. A battle to see who will "civilize" whom ensues.
